LGS Students Confirmed

On Wednesday 25 April, LGS welcomed Bishop Martyn Snow, Bishop of Leicester for an evening service in the Chapel of St Nicholas.  As five of our students made a public commitment to their Christian faith. They each made promises to follow Jesus as a disciple for the rest of their lives.

During the service, Bishop Martyn confirmed Esme Bliss, Eleanor Broughton (who was also baptised), Francesca Jones, Samuel Prime and Nikolaus Wagner-Tsukamoto.  The Bishop in turn anointed them with oil of chrisom (confirmation) and prayed for the Holy Spirit to come upon them.

Mother Liz, who helped to prepare the candidates with Rev’d Whittaker said; ‘It has been a real privileged to journey with Esme, Elly, Fran, Sam and Nikolaus, as we have explored together what it means to follow Christ. They have shared something of their faith with me and in turn asked me some difficult questions about what I believe and why I follow Jesus.’

Mother Liz continued; ‘I was very proud of all our students on Wednesday night, especially as most of the service was led by pupils who help out in the chapel as servers, sacristans and wardens.’

The evening ended with a few canapés in the refectory and a confirmation cake, baked especially for the five newly confirmed Christians.
