This international public-speaking and presentation competition attracts hundreds of entries worldwide. After submitting a video presentation responding to the 2026 Big Question, “If you could resurrect any ancient figure today, who would it be and why?”, Isabelle was selected as one of just four finalists invited to present in person.

The LGS GCSE class of 2025 contains a host of talented actors, musicians and sports people, including: a National Youth Brass Band of Great Britain Champion, a national level swimmer; two Leicestershire county cricketers; and a Leicestershire county tennis player. 

They leave us very well equipped to embark on exciting adventures, whether via university, apprenticeship or gap year. Not only have they developed a love of learning, but they also have the natural self-belief and interpersonal skills to succeed in a technological world and to lead fulfilling and generous lives.

Rather than focusing solely on traditional sports, the week was all about promoting the power of physical activity to support both physical and mental health, using alternative activities that pupils don’t usually experience in the day-to-day curriculum.

Grace was initially recognised as the winner of the Young Volunteer category for her exceptional commitment to giving back to the community. Her selfless efforts and inspiring attitude stood out among a strong field of finalists from across Leicester and Leicestershire.

Their appointment reflects years of outstanding contribution to the co-curricular life of the school, and each has been elected in recognition of their leadership, dedication, and service.

The key message focused on the importance of understanding and expressing emotions while learning how to nurture a positive mindset. Disney’s Inside Out 2 provided a perfect backdrop for this theme, helping to bring the message to life.

They leave us to embark on exciting adventures, whether via university, apprenticeship or gap year. Not only do they have a love of learning, but they have also developed the personal and social skills which will take them far in life and enable them to make a very positive difference to our world.

Headmaster, John Watson, said: "We are delighted to be in a position to give a warm welcome to our Ukrainian guests, in the hope that they will benefit for a short while from the peace and stability which we enjoy every day. We stand too in solidarity alongside them in the huge challenges which they and their families are enduring."

He was already a very experienced Head when he joined us, and he has succeeded in energetically leading the Trust from strength to strength during his tenure. He has built and motivated teams of leaders and staff who are dedicated to the happiness and success of our pupils in all aspects of school life. Numbers in all three schools of the Trust have grown significantly, and Mr Watson has been particularly focussed on the well-being and inclusivity of our school communities, ensuring the development of a culture where young people are supported to be and give of their best. 

This was a year group which suffered more than some others as a result of lockdowns at a very formative time of their education and lives. They nevertheless rose sensibly and energetically to the challenges of an intensive series of public exams, contributing enthusiastically to music, sport, drama and other activities beyond the classroom, including charity-fundraising, community service and the Duke of Edinburgh Award.

This was a year group who sat no GCSE examinations in 2021 and whose education was significantly disrupted. Yet despite the concerns aired in the media and a drop to 26.5% A*/A nationally, their enthusiasm and resilience have led to the award of 69.1% of all grades at A*/A, and 90% at A*-B.

The partnership sees Leicester City Hockey Club provide coaches and hockey services to Leicester Grammar School. The club who are England Hockey Clubmark accredited, will also offer young people (both male and female) the chance to play hockey at various levels, including recreational, competitive, and elite. In addition, the club will offer opportunities for young people to train as coaches and umpires, and to volunteer in the community.
