A healthy, balanced life
We had a beautiful morning for our whole-school photograph on Tuesday. It is quite a feat to load over a thousand people onto staging, with everyone's smiling face visible, but it all ran like clockwork, with the photographers very pleased with pupils' cooperation!
Depending on their year group and their entry point, your child could begin amongst the 'little people' kneeling at the front, gradually moving higher and towards the centre! At whatever stage, I hope they will be smiling, and that the memories evoked in future years will be happy ones.
I said last week how precious education was and therefore how important it was that pupils grasped their opportunities when they could - given how quickly time slips by. Many of those opportunities at LGS occur outside the classroom, and they help our pupils to grow as human beings, enjoying participation alongside others in a whole range of activities which support teamwork, confidence, creativity and interpersonal skills. And our youngsters' fondest memories will often stem from what happens outside lessons rather than within!
You have been sent the co-curricular timetable for this term, as well as the supporting booklet which has been issued to all pupils Leicester Grammar School - Co-Curriculum (lgs-senior.org.uk), so please discuss these with your child and encourage them to get involved. There really is something for everyone, and they will also discover talents they never realised they possessed! All our teachers also support the programme, as we believe with a passion how important such activity is for a rounded education and a healthy, balanced life.
Best wishes,
John Watson
