Arkwright Scholars 2021

Congratulations to our Year 12 students, Lucas and Annie. They have both been awarded Arkwright Engineering Scholarships.  This is the most esteemed scholarship of its type in the UK, designed to inspire students to pursue their dreams and change the world as a future leader in engineering.

The Scholarships are awarded to hard-working 16-year-old students through a rigorous selection process, supporting them through their A levels.

Every Scholarship is sponsored by a commercial company, trade association, professional institution, government organisation, or personal donor. This means that support is offered in different ways, for example, valuable hands-on work experience, support for a curriculum project and a personal mentor who can help them with aspects of their studies and career planning.

Lucas will be sponsored by Leonardo UK (a key player in aerospace, defence and security), and Annie by Agilia Infrastructure (a major company specialising in projects including energy, transport and utilities).

Any current Year 11 pupils who are interested in engineering will be invited to meetings after half term in the Design, Engineering and Technology department. Staff will explain the application process for this year, so keep an eye out in student notices. Students do not need to be taking GCSE DT to apply, but if not, they must have a great understanding of Maths and Science.
