Grace crowned Lord-Lieutenant’s Young Person of the Year 2025

We are proud to share the news that one of our own Year 12 students, Deputy Head of School, Grace, has been named Lord-Lieutenant’s Young Person of the Year 2025 – the top honour at this year’s prestigious awards ceremony hosted at County Hall.

Grace was initially recognised as the winner of the Young Volunteer category for her exceptional commitment to giving back to the community. Her selfless efforts and inspiring attitude stood out among a strong field of finalists from across Leicester and Leicestershire.

Speaking about her volunteering work, Grace said:

I felt really privileged to be here, celebrating my time volunteering, which isn’t something I see as a responsibility – rather just something I find a part of life, and find rewarding in itself to be giving back to the community.

To even be noticed for that volunteering, I already felt like a winner. To be awarded winner of the Young Volunteer category and then be chosen as the overall Lord-Lieutenant’s Young Person of the Year, I felt honoured and humbled simultaneously.

Hosted by the Lord-Lieutenant of Leicestershire, Mike Kapur OBE CStJ, the evening celebrated 16 outstanding young people who have made remarkable contributions to their communities. Grace’s passion, dedication, and humility shone through on the night, as she joined fellow category winners and finalists in a celebration of youth excellence.

Honestly, I feel really privileged tonight to have been able to meet and talk to so many other incredible young people from across Leicestershire.

Grace’s achievement is a shining example of the values we strive to foster at Leicester Grammar School Trust – compassion, community service, and the drive to make a difference.
