Careers Fair 2026 Inspires Students with a World of Opportunities
Leicester Grammar School Trust's biennial Careers Fair returned in spectacular fashion this month, bringing together students from Years 9 to 13 from both LGS Stoneygate and Leicester Grammar School and their families for an evening filled with inspiration, ambition and opportunity.
The event welcomed an impressive range of exhibitors, with representatives from 20 universities, including 11 of the 24 Russell Group institutions, alongside 30 businesses spanning a diverse range of industry sectors. Many exhibitors were Leicester Grammar School Old Leicestrians, eager to return to their former school and share their experiences, advice and career journeys with the next generation.
Students had the opportunity to engage in meaningful conversations about their future pathways, exploring everything from traditional university routes to degree apprenticeships, employment opportunities, voluntary work, gap year experiences and international study options. Armed with CVs and plenty of questions, many students took the chance to seek work experience opportunities and gain valuable insights from professionals working across a broad spectrum of careers.
The atmosphere throughout the school was one of excitement and possibility, with every corner alive with discussion about future aspirations and opportunities. The event provided invaluable guidance for students as they consider their next steps and begin planning for life beyond school.
Exhibitors were particularly impressed by the confidence, maturity and enthusiasm demonstrated by the students, with many commenting on the quality of the conversations they enjoyed throughout the evening. Their overwhelmingly positive feedback has already prompted many organisations to express their eagerness to return for the next Careers Fair in 2028.
The Careers Fair continues to be a cornerstone event within the Leicester Grammar School Trust calendar, helping students make informed decisions about their futures while fostering valuable links between education, higher education institutions and industry.
As the evening drew to a close, students left with fresh ideas, new connections and a clearer understanding of the many exciting pathways available to them, proving once again that the future is full of possibilities.
