Success at Model United Nations Conference

Six pupils represented their school with distinction at a Model United Nations (MUN) conference held at The Elms School in Colwall, Malvern, from Saturday 2 to Sunday 3 May, returning with an impressive collection of awards and commendations.
Meera, Evelyn, Joshua, Kee Han, Oliver and Joseph, who are all in Year 7 or 8, all received at least one award or special mention across the weekend, competing in both serious geopolitical debates on Saturday and more light‑hearted, creative debates on Sunday.

During Saturday’s formal sessions, which focused on real-world international issues, the pupils achieved the following awards:
- Evelyn B – Outstanding Delegate (South Africa, Human Rights Committee)
- Meera O – Highly Commended (Russia, Human Rights)
- Joshua W – Highly Commended (South Africa, Committee on Drugs and Crime)
- Joseph C – Highly Commended (Russia, Disarmament)
- Kee Han S – Special Mention (South Africa, Disarmament)
Sunday’s debates introduced a more imaginative format, with delegates representing fictional characters. Awards included:
- Evelyn B – Outstanding Delegate (Severus Snape)
- Meera O – Commended (Hermione Granger)
- Joshua W – Commended (Peter Parker)
- Kee Han S – Commended (Ego)
- Oliver S – Special Mention
For five of the six pupils, this was their first MUN conference, making the results particularly noteworthy. Evelyn’s achievement was exceptional, as she received two Outstanding Delegate awards, the highest possible accolade, at her debut conference.
Joseph was also singled out for praise by the conference organiser, who commended the maturity and clarity he brought to his contributions during the debates.
All pupils are to be congratulated on their commitment, confidence and enthusiasm, as well as on the professionalism and teamwork they displayed throughout the weekend.
